Our general process is best outlined as follows:
STAGE 1: SCOPE OF WORK
- An in-depth home consultation to establish and flesh out the client brief, scope of work and budget for your project. This involves viewing the relevant spaces (if applicable); looking at existing and/or proposed building plans and any visual references you might have.
- Preparing a Design Fee Proposal - assuming there is an alignment and capacity for us to take the project on, we then prepare a detailed proposal outlining the scope of work, process and the Design Fee. Upon acceptance, we then move to the next Stage.
STAGE 2 - DESIGN CONCEPT, DEVELOPMENT & DOCUMENTATION
- Concept Design - After considerable research, we prepare and present a Conceptual Mood board to demonstrate the design intent & style and to ensure your vision is understood. This becomes the reference guide for decisions throughout the project.
- Design Development - this involves conceptual drawings for the relevant spaces along with the preparation of floor plans and layouts to optimise functionality and flow.
- Sourcing & Specification - this involves sourcing quality materials, fittings and fixtures that align with the design concept. For a new furniture scheme, this also includes sourcing quality furniture, rugs, feature lighting, window treatments and art. A sample library of relevant materials is collated where possible to ensure cohesion. These selections and samples are presented to you for feedback/revision.
- Documentation & Detailed Drawings - once the above selections & conceptual drawings are finalised, we proceed to the detailed drawings stage and preparation of a Selections schedule that details all the materials, fixtures & fittings broken down by room along with supplier details and design guidelines where required for your builder or contractors.
STAGE 3 - DESIGN IMPLEMENTATION
- Procurement - ordering, tracking & managing delivery of relevant fixtures, fittings and furniture for your home.
- Site visits during construction, overseeing design implementation, point of contact for any on-site issues relating to the design; on-going liaison with the builder, cabinetmaker and relevant contractors throughout the project.
- Furniture and styling - delivery and installation of furniture, rugs, art, feature lighting and window treatments. We position, style and present the spaces as intended. We then source homewares including bedlinen, cushions and décor items as well as using the Client’s existing pieces to bring the spaces to life and present the home at its best.
